![]() How the rig flashes when your health is at critical state further suggests it's a hologram. The texture of the rig clearly looks like a hologram, same does the in-game version with the shaders on. The health bar is simply a visual representation of the physical state of your body and it is a hologram displayed in a long vertical tube. ![]() You're not becoming tougher you're expanding your healing gel reserve. When you upgrade your Health in a bench, you gain more bars on your RIG display, giving you more "hit points". When you use a health kit, you're not applying it directly, but refilling your health gel reserve. When the bar is depleted and blinking red, that means the RIG has ran out of healing gel, and therefore cannot heal and/or supress the pain of any further injuries (that's why Isaac limps when at low health) That could mean the RIG has detected the injury, and sent some of the healing gel from the reserve to the wound (to heal, and/or apply anesthetic). Hear me out whenever the RIG wearer is injured, the luminous bar decreases (and changes color as well). ![]() What if the luminous bars we see on the RIG are not a display of health, but a reserve of healing gel? How exactly the device "measures" the well being of the wearer is unknown, so we all just assume it's there for gameplay reasons. The Dead Space series shows us the iconic RIG, a device on an individual's back that shows their health. ![]()
